good cop/bad cop - title card animation

We teamed up with creator John Quaintance and illustrator Sam Larson to animate a set of 8 title cards for the series Good Cop Bad Cop. Each card was designed to look like a still—classic, bold, and static at first glance—but with a clever twist: a subtle, unexpected movement right at the end that brings each one to life.

Our mission? Minimal animation, maximum impact. The result is a set of opening cards that feel simple and polished at first… until a turn, a flicker, or a perfectly timed motion moment surprises you (and makes you look twice).

Watch the compilation below for the full set, or check out each card individually over on Vimeo.

The Process

  1. Assessing illustrated assets and determining how many inbetween frames were required for the movement

  2. 2D illustration and animation

  3. Motion design
